About this clinic

WIC is a Federally funded supplemental nutrition program available to low-income pregnant and postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to 5 years old. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, breast feeding promotion and support, nutritious foods, and help in accessing community resources to clients enrolled in the program. The food packages provided by WIC align with the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans by increasing fiber through whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and by reducing the saturated fat and cholesterol intake for women and children over the age of 2 years. WIC is also an advocate for the promotion and support of long-term breastfeeding and delaying the introduction of semi-solid foods until 6 months of age in accordance with the feeding practice guidelines of The American Academy of Pediatrics.
