About this clinic
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a supplemental food and nutrition program for low-income pregnant women, nursing women and young children. WIC provides nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support as well as food. The target WIC population includes low-income, nutritionally at-risk: Pregnant women (through pregnancy and up to six weeks after birth or after the pregnancy ends); Breastfeeding women (up to the infant’s first birthday); Non-breastfeeding postpartum women (up to six months after the birth of an infant or after the pregnancy ends); Children up to the fifth birthday. To be eligible, women or children must: Live in Brunswick County; Have a household income of 185% or less of the U.S. Poverty Income guidelines (A person receiving Medicaid, Work First Families Assistance/TANF, or food stamps automatically meets this requirement.); Be at nutritional risk (A nutritionist or other health professional makes the nutritional risk assessment at no cost to the participant, usually at the local WIC office.)
