About this clinic
WIC (Women, Infants, and Children’s Supplemental Food Program) is a federally funded program that started in Pineville, KY on January 15, 1974. WIC is designed to promote proper nutrition to pregnant and breastfeeding women and children ages birth to five (5) years old. To be eligble for WIC services, clients must have an income at or below 185% poverty level, or receive Medicaid services or food stamps. Clients must also have a nutritional risk per WIC guidelines. Proper nutrition during childhood significantly reduces the risk of obesiety, anemia, and redices health care costs. Proper nutrition also fosters a childs memory development and ability to learn. Nutrution eduation and Medical Nutrituion Therapy are also offered through the program.
