Description:: The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, is available at our site, 20 New York Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11216 as part of the New York State WIC Program. WIC offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referrals and a variety of nutritious foods to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum women, infants and children up to age five to promote and support good health. WIC foods are good sources of protein, iron, calcium, folic acid, Vitamin C and fiber and help women to have healthy pregnancies and also help children to be healthy and grow well. WIC promotes and encourages breastfeeding as the best method for infant feeding. WIC wants mothers and babies to breastfeed successfully. As a result, Peer Counselors are available to work with women to provide breastfeeding education, support and role modeling.
